More Biker - Memorial Day - Fountian

http://www.welcomebikers.com/forums/index.php?automodule=blog&blogid=1&showentry=16

On Memorial Day we honor all our service personal for they have given the ultimate sacrifice for our safety and our freedom. I feel honored to be an American and truly appreciate the sacrifice that so many have given for us, I hold no regard for the asswipes in this country that talk about these honorable men and women with a sneer.

My prayers go out to the families of our fallen heroes.

With all the rain we had Sunday night there was no need for me to go to work let alone the fact that my fellow co workers said they had it under control if the job had to be done today. Seems like for ever since I have had a Memorial Day off of work and its a great to be able to do a few things around the house for a change.

1 item I was able to finish was assembling the 1/2 hp fountain from Sugar Creek Fountains that I purchased for my pond about 3 weeks ago. I`m hoping the geyser setting will keep the water moving enough to cut back on some of the mosquito population. The fountain is shooting a column of water up about 14 ft into the air I should be able to get a few shots later this week after I get my digital camera back from another co worker :^)

More Biker - Whats with some of these Harley Davidson sales people?

http://www.welcomebikers.com/forums/index.php?automodule=blog&blogid=1&showentry=13

Whats with some of these Harley Davidson sales people?
I have been to a few dealers looking around and had a talk with two salesman that seemed to be playing some sort of wacked out holier than thou, smart ass, we know all, you just stand there and drool demented good cop, bad cop routine.
One of them remained silent just nodding his head every now and then all the while the other one spewed out his best pitch and then ended with some spiel along the lines of "listen to me man, better buy this one NOW or your shit out of luck"
I do not care for this type of approach from any sales guy so I told him "cya later" I`ll just look some where else, then and all of a sudden silent salesman took over for this asswipe introduced himself as the "Manager" and became my buddy.

At least now that I was dealing with the "showroom commander" I did not have to play the "let me talk to my manager game" so I figured wth I can go through a round or two with some what of a mute salesman. I start with my usual "try to make a deal of some sort" This may not actually be a real deal for me but if the salesman is worth anything I would leave feeling like I got one. I usually go for some type of accessory or option for free or a discount for frequent purchases.

This turned out to be a waste of time because there seemed to be all giving on my end and I still have another dealer or two to visit.

Harley Davidson - VRSCDX WALK AROUND & 360<OBJECT classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"

IT CAME FROM THE DARK SIDE OF WHEREVER YOUR MOTHER TOLD YOU NOT TO GO.

Race-inspired detailing meets shades of black metal that would make night herself jealous. Orange pinstripes around the slotted disc wheels; 240-millimeters worth of rubber in the rear. Mesh screen covers foreshadow the kind of performance that keeps the faint of heart behind locked doors. The liquid-cooled Revolution® engine gets an upgrade to 1,250-cubic-centimeters for 2008. That's 125 horses beneath your seat, harnessed via a new slipper clutch. Also new this year on all VRSC™ models: optional ABS brakes to supplement the standard Brembo® brake setup. You've got a five-gallon fuel tank and a perimeter frame like nothing else on two wheels. The only thing outpacing the RPM’s is your heartbeat.

More Biker - w.bloggar - software

http://www.welcomebikers.com/forums/index.php?automodule=blog&blogid=1&showentry=11

w.bloggar is an application that acts as an interface between the user and one or more blog(s); in other words, it is a Post and Template editor, with several features and resources that the browser based blog editors do not offer.

Because w.bloggar runs over the Windows GUI, it allows the user to edit posts without being connected to the Internet. Posts can be saved locally; and anytime the user wants to publish a new text, one click on the w.bloggar icon in the system tray brings up the editor, and one more click will post it to the weblog.

Another great advantage of w.bloggar is that it is compatible with most of the weblog systems available, allowing an advanced user to have only one interface to several accounts hosted on several different sites, using different publishing systems.

So far I really like this program and there could be even better ones out there but I do not have a lot of time to be testing.

wblogger has some nice features:
Saving posts locally for publishing later.
Importing text files.
Formatting text/fonts.
Multiple accounts/blogs.
Supports Multiple Categories.
It`s FREE!
No Spyware!
No Nag Screens!

Website: http://wbloggar.com/
Downloads: http://wbloggar.com/download.php

These lines are from a 1940 movie called "The Ghost Breakers" and involves Bob Hope (Larry), Paulette Goddard (Mary) and Richard Carlson (Geoff) as they are discussing zombies, of course the line I am referring to is the last line by Larry

Geoff: "When a person dies and is buried, it seems there's certain voodoo priests who have the power to bring him back to life. "
Mary: "How horrible. "
Geoff: "It's worse than horrible because a zombie has no will of his own. You see them sometimes, walking around with dead eyes, following orders, not knowing what they do, not caring. "
Larry: "You mean like democrats?"

KillaCycle is motorcycle capable of running in the 7`s @ 168 MPH in the 1/4 mile, that may not seem extraordinary until you realize its powered by nano-phospate cells (batteries). This motorcycle is more than likely a good look into the future , not necessarily vehicles powered by just batteries as they would probably be powered by some thing along the lines of a fuel cell.

Every time I run across the KillaCycle I have to watch that 168 MPH run over again and be amazed at what that bike can do and really what a very impressive piece of technology it is.

More Biker - Ol bike

http://www.welcomebikers.com/forums/index.php?automodule=blog&blogid=1&showentry=8

These are pictures of a bike I use to own and unfortunately for various reasons had to be sold.. This was the 2nd FLSTF I bought. I bought it new in 93 from the House of Harley and was the first Harley I put some work into customizing.

I cut and reshaped the front stock fender as well as cutting, rounding and welding the rear fender struts. I also made the rear license plate from scratch and spent about 10 hours routing the wires for the front turn signal through the control housings so no wires would be visible. Installed a carb on each side of the motor along with a RB Racing header. The bike`s 130 rear tire was fairly fat for its time (I think 150 was considered huge back then) I went to Donnie Smiths shop and bought a kit to get that tire on the bike and it worked out great.
This bikes stock rake was 32 degrees but I managed to get about 37 from using some old FLH adjustable triple trees that were mainly used with a side car. At that time I did not want to cut up the stock frame.. now I would have no problem slicing it.

I can not remember the guy`s name that bought it, all I remember is meeting him at the Rock N Roll hall of fame to do a trade off. In any event I hope all went well with the bike riding for him. I wonder if he still has it..

I must be a little slow because I just recently seen a fantastic movie that was made in 2005. If you have not seen or heard of it you should check it out.

The movie is called "THE WORLDS FASTEST INDIAN"

It a story based on the life of Burt Munro and his 1920 Indian Scout that set
the world's land-speed record in 1967 at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah.
Anthony Hopkins plays Munro some what eccentric character.

One of Munro`s most memorable quotes has to do with bike racing "You live more in five
minutes than most people live in a lifetime."

History: Burt Munro
Website: THE WORLDS FASTEST INDIAN

I was going over some old photos and came across this Image I scanned from a bike magazine that had coverage from the 95th Reunion. It has been a while since I have seen these 2 friends I need to get my head out of my ass and stop by for a visit.

If any one happens to have a copy of this magazine or know`s of some one who does, please contact me.

WANTED:
Hot Bike Magazine 95th Reunion Oct. 98 issue # 111
